welcome to bridgeview Montessori School
WHERE LEARNING IS LIVE AND VITAL.
At Bridgeview Montessori School, students are encouraged to be their authentic selves. This means they learn which disciplines they love, which are more challenging, and which they are eager to discover. Within our carefully structured learning environment, students have the freedom to find their interests and thus discover their passions.
Children’s House students will be dismissed at 1 pm. Our teachers use the afternoon for planning time. We will have After Care for Children’s House students who are already signed up.
Come check out what’s happening with our parent organization.

We will be administering the IOWA Test to our Third through Sixth Year students during a portion of their work periods over the course of a few days. This is our most traditional form of assessment; results are shared with parents and used as an in-house tool for our own self-assessment. This article reminds us that purposeful movement is a fundamental building block for our children’s growth and development. Maria Montessori knew this when she was practicing and creating her pedagogy, and we know it here at Bridgeview Montessori. We are seeing a shift toward movement and occupational therapy in our public schools as well. I am always struck by just how much Maria Montessori understood about how children learn.
Cheney Hagerup joined our faculty this past fall as a co-teacher in our Children’s House Yellow Room, and with her she brought enthusiasm and know-how. One of her many passions is creating a classroom that, through its microcosmic culture, strives to be inclusive and understanding, and empathetic. Cheney shared this list with us.

Learn how Bridgeview Montessori School continues with its outreach during a pandemic.
A colleague just told me that Maria Montessori was the answer (or question as it were) in final Jeopardy last week. This got me to thinking once again about Montessori’s legacy. I wrote this poem a few years back, and I thought I would share it again now as it seems appropriate for this time in our history. When I wrote the piece, I was intrigued when I learned that Montessori and Mahatma Gandhi met to discuss peace. I sure so wish these visionaries were with us today. Suzanne Lawson
In response to the murder of George Floyd and the nationwide protests, our Head of School sent this letter to our community. At our school, voices are shared and heard.
Colin joined his two brothers at our school a few years ago, and what a wonderful addition he has been. He is an adventurer and great friend. He has an eye for art and often shares his astute observations with his Art History class. You can see Colin again in this year's talent show.
Jonah joined us this year as a 1st Year in Elementary I. He and his family have been wonderful additions to our community. From what I understand he attends more than a few of his Zoom meetings while outside. What a wonderful way to learn. Thanks, Jonah, for sharing your voice.
Maura joined us this year and upon meeting her in the admissions process, I knew right away she would fit in our school beautifully. She is a Montessori person, independent and confident (not to mention smart and talented....).
Ruby is one of those lucky people with a fall birthday so she gets to spend 4 years in Children's House. Next September she will be entering her 4th and Kindergarten Year in our Children's House. Ruby and I have shared quite a few fictitious birthday treats in the sandbox over the years!
